Rapist Records Video of His Crime that Leads to His Conviction
DA Charme Allen announces that prosecutors in the Major Crimes Unit obtained convictions against a man who raped an unconscious woman and video recorded the crime. Rudolph Valentino Campbell, III, 44, was convicted of two counts of Rape and one count of Disseminating Unlawful Photographs. Judge Emily Abbott revoked Campbell’s bond, ordered him into custody, and set the case for sentencing on March 26 where Campbell faces twelve to twenty years in prison without the possibility of parole.
In a three-day trial, Assistant District Attorneys Jeannine Guzolek and Jordan Murray explained to the jury that Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the report of a rape that occurred on December 17, 2024. The victim told KPD Det. Ethan Grantham that she had been out drinking that day. Eventually, she ended up at Campbell’s house. At one point during the night, the victim passed out. While the victim was unconscious, Campbell sexually assaulted her. Campbell recorded the rape on his cell phone and sent a video of the victim to another individual. When Campbell was arrested, he was in possession of a cell phone that contained video recordings of the rape.
“This offender preyed upon a young woman when she was most vulnerable, but he has been held accountable thanks to her bravery and the hard work of everyone involved in this case,” said DA Charme Allen.
Campbell has two prior felony convictions for Aggravated Assault and Attempted Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Assistant Victim Witness Coordinator Kim Strike and Legal Secretary Connie Watts aided in the prosecution of this case.
