Report a Crime

Safety and Advocacy Services for Family/Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault

  • To report a crime or emergency that is happening now, call law enforcement by dialing 911.
  • For advocacy and support services for family or domestic violence, call the Randall E. Ways to File an Order of Protection (OP)

  • To file an OP, call the Randall E. Nichols Family Justice Center (FJC) 24-hour Family Violence Helpline at 865.521.6336.  The FJC is located at 400 Harriet Tubman Street, Knoxville, TN 37915.
  • To file an OP, call Legal Aid of East Tennessee at 865.637.0484 for assistance.
  • To file an OP, call Fourth (4th) Circuit Court at 865.215.2404 or go to Fourth (4th) Circuit Court on the Main Level of the City-County Building, located at 400 W. Main Street, Knoxville, TN 37902 during normal business hours.

Prevent & Report Child Abuse

  • If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call law enforcement by dialing 911
  • To make an online report of child abuse occurring in Tennessee, visit the website of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services (DCS).
  • To report child abuse occurring in Tennessee, call the Tennessee DCS Intake Number at 877.54.ABUSE (877.542.2873).
  • In instances where you suspect a child is being sexually exploited on the internet, make a report to both DCS (either online or by phone) and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline.

Report a Missing Child

  • To report a crime or emergency that is happening now, call law enforcement by dialing 911.
  • To report a crime that has occurred within Knoxville city limits, call the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) at 865.215.7000.   KPD is located at 800 Howard Baker, Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37915.
  • To report a crime that has occurred within Knox County limits, call the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) at 865.215.2243. To submit an anonymous tip to KCSO, click here.  KCSO is located at 400 Main Street, Knoxville, TN 37902.
  • If a child is missing, view and/or print a quick reference guide from the website of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Prevent & Report Elder Abuse

  • To report a crime or emergency that is happening now, call law enforcement by dialing 911.
  • To report elder abuse occurring in Tennessee, call the Tennessee Elder Abuse Hotline at 888.APS.TENN (888.277.8366).
  • For information on how to prevent elder abuse, visit the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website National Center on Elder Abuse.

Prevent & Report Human Trafficking

  • To report a crime or emergency that is happening now, call law enforcement by dialing 911.
  • To report human trafficking in Tennessee, call the Tennessee Human Trafficking Hotline at 855.558.6484.

Prevent & Report Identity Theft

  • For tips on how to prevent identity theft, visit the U.S. Government’s official website www.USA.gov.
  • If you believe that you or your family members are victims of identity theft, immediately contact all of your financial institutions.  Then call the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) at 865.215.7000 if you live within Knoxville city limits or the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) at 865.215.2243 if you live within Knox County limits.  Also call all credit-reporting bureaus to put a fraud alert on your accounts.
