Murderer Sent to Prison for Forty Years
Prosecutors in District Attorney General Charme Allen’s Major Crimes Unit obtained a conviction today for Second Degree Murder against Ty-Ray Earl Webb, 26, a man who shot his brother-in-law following an argument at a birthday party. Under the terms of the agreement, Webb will serve forty years in the Tennessee Department of Correction.
In a hearing before Judge Scott Green, Assistant District Attorney Kevin Allen explained to the Court that on September 16, 2015, Webb invited friends and family to his house at 2430 Jefferson Avenue to celebrate his birthday. One of the attendees was the victim, CJ Crowder, Webb’s brother-in-law. During the party, Webb and Crowder began arguing, which led to a fistfight in front of the house. The fight between Webb and Crowder stopped, but several other individuals at the party also began fighting in the street. While others were fighting, Webb walked into his house and retrieved a firearm. After staying inside for a few minutes, Webb walked onto the porch and fired several shots into the air. He then walked up the Crowder who was standing in the street, raised the pistol, and fired three rounds, striking Crowder twice in the chest and once in the arm. Webb then walked back into the house, packed a bag, and fled the jurisdiction.
“”This senseless act of violence has devastated a family,”” said DA Allen.””Defendants who have so little regard for human life deserve the lengthy sentences they receive.””
