Multi-Convicted Felon Found Guilty of Theft

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained a conviction today against a multi-convicted felon for stealing audio equipment. Billy Vincent Burke, 54, was convicted by a Knox County jury of Theft over $500. Judge Steve Sword set the case for sentencing on July 22.

At trial, Assistant District Attorney Phil Morton explained to the jury that sometime between October 2013 and August 2014, Burke stole four speaker cabinets and three microphones from his former employer, Stellar Visions and Sound, located at 2020 Dutch Valley Drive. Burke had worked for Stellar Visions for eight years before he was fired for dishonest usage of the company gas card. The company owner eventually found the stolen equipment at Atomic Pawn on Tazewell Pike and Cash America on Broadway.

Theft over $500 is a Class E felony, and Burke is facing a sentence between two and four years because he has prior felony convictions for Armed Robbery, First Degree Burglary, and Aggravated Assault. In addition to finding Burke guilty, the jury also assessed a $615 fine.
