Jury Convicts Troy Love of Rape of a Child

On Tuesday, August 12, 2014, a Knox County jury convicted Troy Lee Love, 61, of two counts of Rape of a Child and one count of Aggravated Sexual Battery. Because of the nature of the crimes and mandatory sentencing statutes, Love is facing a minimum of twenty-five years in the Tennessee Department of Correction. Judge Steve Sword presided over the two-day trial and set a sentencing hearing for September 25, 2014.

In January 2013, Knox County Sheriff’s Office Detective Miranda Spangler began an investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse committed by Love on a seven-year-old victim. Detective Spangler’s investigation led to the arrest of Love in August of 2013. Assistant District Attorneys Kit Rodgers and Ashley McDermott of the Child Abuse Unit prosecuted the case.

The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the jurors for their service and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for their hard work and dedication.
