Jury Convicts Delbert Eugene Morgan of Theft

A Knox County jury found Delbert Eugene Morgan, 58, guilty as charged of Theft over $60,000. Judge Steve Sword presided over the two-week trial. Theft over $60,000 is a Class B Felony, which carries a range of punishment from eight to twelve years. Judge Sword set a future date to determine Morgan’s sentence.

The conviction follows an investigation by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Jamesena Rutherford and the Knox County District Attorney General’s Office into Morgan’s employment with the Knox County Trustee’s Office between April 2004 and March 2007. Assistant District Attorneys Bill Bright and John Gill of the White Collar Unit prosecuted the case.

The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the jurors for their service and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for their hard work and dedication.
