Gangster Disciple Sent to Prison for Thirty Years
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained a thirty-year sentence against a gang member and career criminal. Glenn Larry Brown, Jr., 37, was convicted of Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine in a Drug Free School Zone, Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Controlled Substance Analogue, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Judge Bob McGee sentenced Brown to thirty years in prison without the possibility of parole.
At trial last September, Assistant District Attorney TaKisha Fitzgerald explained to the jury that on March 28, 2016, Knoxville Police Department Officer Steve Kaufman stopped Brown for speeding near the intersection of Whittle Springs Road and Lawson Avenue in north Knoxville. Both Brown and his passenger appeared nervous, and Brown told Ofc. Kaufman he was thinking about running. In the vehicle, officers found approximately five grams of crack cocaine, a synthetic drug commonly referred to as molly, and a handgun.
“This career criminal spent the majority of his adult life victimizing people,” said DA Charme Allen.”The lengthy sentence in this case ends that track record.”
Brown has nine prior felony convictions for violent, property, and drug dealing offenses out of three different jurisdictions. Brown has also been classified as a member of the Gangster Disciples criminal street gang.
