Employee Firing Leads to Assault Conviction
After deliberating for only twenty minutes, a Knox County jury convicted Jerry Lee Thomas, 40, of Assault following an altercation that occurred on August 29, 2012. Assistant District Attorney Nate Ogle presented testimony that Thomas slapped his manager in the face after he learned he was going to be fired. The State will ask Judge Bob McGee for a sentence to serve given the Defendant’s prior convictions for Aggravated Robbery and Attempted Aggravated Robbery. The sentencing hearing is set for April 16.
