Drug Trafficker Sentenced to Twenty-Five Years for Heroin and Meth

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Felony Drug Unit obtained a twenty-five-year sentence against a drug trafficker caught in possession of approximately seven hundred units of heroin. Monty Wayne Fairchild, 33, was convicted of Possession with Intent to Sell Heroin, Possession with Intent to Sell Methamphetamine, and Evading Arrest.

In a hearing before Judge Bob McGee, Assistant District Attorney Hector Sanchez explained to the Court that on June 12, 2017, Knox County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Marcus Parton observed Fairchild driving erratically on Interstate 40 eastbound near the Cedar Bluff exit. Ofc. Parton attempted to stop Fairchild for reckless driving, but Fairchild refused to stop and evaded arrest before crashing on Papermill Road. Fairchild attempted to flee on foot but was caught by Ofc. Parton. Fairchild had approximately 2.5 ounces of heroin and eight grams of methamphetamine in his pants. In the vehicle, he also had four grams of cocaine, marijuana, two handguns, and a shotgun. At the street level, heroin is sold in”points” or one tenth of one gram, meaning that the 2.5 ounces of heroin in Fairchild’s sock was equal to seven hundred units with a street value between $15,000 and $20,000.

“The Felony Drug Unit will continue to aggressively prosecute drug dealers as our society deals with the ever-increasing number of overdose deaths,” said DA Charme Allen.”This prosecution saved lives. Only by prosecuting the dealer and treating the addict can we affect the supply and demand of the drug trade and begin to turn the tide in this epidemic.”

Fairchild has prior felony convictions for Attempted Aggravated Robbery and Escape.
