Defendant Convicted after Stealing an Ambulance

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Criminal Court Division obtained a conviction against a man who stole a Rural Metro ambulance. Christopher Todd Ford, 31, was convicted of Theft over $60,000. After the jury returned their verdict, Judge Bob McGee set the case for sentencing on July 22.

At trial, Assistant District Attorney Nate Ogle explained to the jury that on July 15, 2014, Ford stole an ambulance valued at $170,000 from Tennova Physician’s Regional Medical Center at 900 East Oak Hill Avenue. He then crashed the ambulance into a telephone pole on Oklahoma Avenue and fled the scene.

Theft over $60,000 is a Class B felony that carries a punishment between eight and twelve years. In addition to the finding of guilt, the jury assessed a total of $15,000 in fines.
