Crips Gang Member Receives Maximum Sentence after East Knoxville Shooting

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained the maximum sentence possible against a gang member who shot a man on Linden Avenue during a robbery. Bradley Lamar Robinson, 19, was sentenced to serve thirty-seven years in prison after being convicted of Facilitation of First Degree Felony Murder and Facilitation of Especially Aggravated Robbery. Judge Scott Green imposed the punishment following a sentencing hearing today.

At trial last May, Assistant District Attorneys TaKisha Fitzgerald and Phil Morton explained to the jury that on November 15, 2015, Knoxville Police Department Investigator Clay Madison and other officers responded to a shooting at the 2300 block of Linden Avenue. The investigation revealed that Robinson and a co-defendant, Tyshon Artrell Booker, discussed getting a ride from the victim and setting up a robbery. Booker and Robinson called the victim and were riding in a vehicle in East Knoxville with the victim when Booker pulled a handgun on the victim in order to rob him. During the course of the robbery, Booker shot the victim six times. Booker and Robinson were both juveniles at the time of the offense. The District Attorney’s Office sought to transfer both cases to Criminal Court where the two gang members would be tried as adults. Juvenile Court Judge Tim Irwin ordered the cases transferred.

“We wanted to try these offenders as adults because of the severity of the offense and the Defendants’ affiliation with the Crips street gang,” said DA Charme Allen.”Gang members, whether juveniles or adults, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent in order to keep the community safe.”

Booker was convicted earlier this year of First Degree Felony Murder and Especially Aggravated Robbery and sentenced to life in prison.
