Convicted Felon Caught with Drugs and Guns Convicted Again

DA Charme Allen announces that prosecutors in the Career Gang Unit obtained multiple convictions against a felon caught with drugs and guns during a probation check.  Terrance Rodregus Odom, 46, was convicted of Possession with Intent to Sell Methamphetamine, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Drug Felon, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  Judge Hector Sanchez set the case for sentencing on November 20 where Odom faces a minimum of twelve to twenty years in prison.

In a two-day trial, Assistant District Attorneys Molly Martin and TaKisha Fitzgerald explained to the jury that on September 18, 2025, Tennessee Department of Correction officers were at Odom’s residence on Boyds Bridge Pike because Odom had been convicted in 2020 of a cocaine offense.  During the home visit, officers located a firearm box and a safe.  Odom had the key to the safe in his pocket, and the safe contained a handgun.  After finding the firearm, TDOC officers called for assistance from KPD.  A further search of Odom’s residence revealed another rifle, ammunition, and firearms accessories.  Officers also located methamphetamine and other drug distribution paraphernalia including baggies, a scale, and a money counter machine.  When interviewed, Odom admitted possessing the firearms.  Odom is prohibited by law from possessing firearms because he has four prior felony convictions for selling cocaine, possessing a firearm, and introducing contraband into a jail.

“Repeat offenders can expect to serve lengthy sentences, especially when it comes to gun crimes,” said DA Allen.

Because of his prior felony convictions, Odom is facing twelve to twenty years on the methamphetamine count and six to ten years on the firearms counts.  Prosecutors will ask that the sentence in this case run consecutive to the sentence in Odom’s 2020 case.  Chief Victim Witness Coordinator Tracee Smith and Legal Secretary Cathleen Wilson aided in the prosecution of this case.
