DA’s Office Welcomes New Community Affairs Director Emily M. Scheuneman

District Attorney General Charme Allen hired Emily M. Scheuneman to serve as our new Community Affairs Director overseeing the Community Affairs Unit, effective July 10, 2017.  Ms. Scheuneman succeeds our first Community Affairs Coordinator Jackie Myers, who was appointed as General Allen’s Executive Assistant. With an Accreditation in Public Relations, Ms. Scheuneman has dedicated more than 10 years to the public relations profession, previously serving as the Director of Community Relations for the Helen Ross McNabb Center (HRM).  At HRM, Ms. Scheuneman managed the community relations department with responsibilities related to public relations, development, volunteer management, government relations, internal communications, marketing, and special projects.

Ms. Scheuneman’s commitment to our community includes raising millions of dollars to fund services for uninsured families, homeless veterans, and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault; she also was an integral part of the team who developed the Vivitrol pilot opioid drug treatment program, “A Shot at Life.”  Ms. Scheuneman is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Public Relations Major and Media Arts Minor, Magna Cum Laude.

This past January, Ms. Scheuneman was recognized as one of Knoxville’s Class of 2016 Top 40 under 40 by the Greater Knoxville Business Journal.  She has also received numerous awards from the Public Relations Society of America for media and community relations programs that she has developed and executed.

Through an expansion of our Community Affairs Unit, Ms. Scheuneman will serve a crucial role in General Allen’s continuing vision of building a bridge between our Office and the people we serve.  Without this bridge, and without the trust and support of our community, we cannot effectively function as a prosecutor’s office.  In this regard, we believe the work of our Community Affairs Director is so important and we are all very excited to have a person of Ms. Scheuneman’s unique skill set and talents serving in this role.

Welcome to Team Justice, Emily!
