Assistant District Attorney General TaKisha Fitzgerald is selected as 2016 Woman to Woman Honoree

On March 30, 2016 Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. announced the names of five outstanding women within the Knoxville Community, including Assistant District Attorney General TaKisha Fitzgerald, as its 2016 Woman to Woman Honorees.  The Sorority declared:  “Whereas women have frequently been the initiators in advocating for freedom and equality, and are often responsible for rearranging and strengthening our culture, the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Nu Zeta Chapter celebrates Women’s History and our National Finer Womanhood Month by saluting five local women, in honor of our five founders, whose lives are examples of the fruits of the struggle.”

General Fitzgerald and the other four honorees were recognized at the Nu Zeta Scholarship Tea held on May 22, 2016, at the Beck Cultural Center in Knoxville.  The Nu Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. stated that it was honored to publicly acknowledge General Fitzgerald for showing generosity for others while demonstrating her commitment to building a better future.  General Fitzgerald has been a prosecutor with the Office of the District Attorney General since 1998, having graduated from The University of Tennessee College of Law with her Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree in that same year.  The other honorees include Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero, University of Tennessee Police Department Deputy Chief Emily Simerly, Dr. Shannen Williams, and Tabernacle Baptist Church Elder J. Tomma Battle.  The names of all 5 honorees will appear on a plaque displayed at the Beck Cultural Center.
