Defendant Convicted after Morningside Apartment Shooting
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained convictions against a defendant who shot at two victims at Morningside Apartments. Shaquil Malik Talib Murphy, 28, was convicted of Attempted First Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault, and two counts of Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. Judge Steve Sword revoked Murphy’s bond and set the case for sentencing on November 5.

Repeat Domestic Abuser Convicted at Trial
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Domestic Violence Unit obtained convictions against a repeat domestic abuser who beat his girlfriend and would not let her leave their home. Nicklaus Edward Brush, 41, was convicted of Aggravated Kidnapping and Domestic Assault, Third Offense. Judge Steve Sword revoked Brush’s bond, ordered him into custody, and set the case for sentencing on September 30.
Repeat Impaired Driver Sentenced to Thirteen Years
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s DUI Unit obtained a thirteen-year sentence against an impaired driver with sixteen DUI convictions. Hobart William Reagan, 58, was convicted of Driving Under the Influence, Sixth or Subsequent Offense. After a sentencing hearing, Judge Kyle Hixson ordered Reagan to serve thirteen years in prison.
Third Defendant Convicted for Role in Double Homicide
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Major Crimes Unit obtained convictions against a third co-defendant for his involvement in a marijuana robbery that resulted in a double homicide. Kristopher Johnson, 25, was convicted of two counts of Facilitation of Felony Murder, two counts of Aggravated Robbery, Tampering with Evidence, Aggravated Burglary, and Aggravated Assault. Judge Steve Sword set the case for sentencing on October 8.
Child Rapist Convicted after Decade of Abusing Victim
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Child Abuse Unit obtained convictions against a defendant who sexually abused a child for over a decade. Aaron Michael King, 40, was convicted of five counts of Rape of a Child, five counts of Rape, Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure, Incest, two counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery, Especially Aggravated Sexual Exploitation, Tampering with Evidence, Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, and Aggravated Kidnapping. Judge Scott Green ordered King into custody and set the case for sentencing on October 1.
Defendant Convicted of Rape and Ordered into Custody
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Major Crimes Unit obtained convictions against a convicted felon who raped a woman he recently met on an online dating website. Tony Darrell Manning, 51, was convicted of Rape, Aggravated Assault, and two counts of Attempted Rape. Judge Scott Green ordered Manning into custody and set the case for sentencing on September 17.
Child Rapist Sentenced to Ninety-Nine Years in Prison
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Child Abuse Unit obtained a ninety-nine-year sentence against a defendant who raped a child multiple times over the course of several years. Robert Vernon Gouge, 47, was convicted of three counts of Rape of a Child, one count of Attempted Rape of a Child, and one count of Aggravated Sexual Battery. Judge Kyle Hixson pronounced the nearly century-long sentence after a hearing today where prosecutors cited the necessity of a maximum sentence to protect this victim and other victims of child abuse.
East Knoxville Residence Closed as Public Nuisance
Prosecutors and investigators on the Drug Related Death Task Force have closed a residence in East Knoxville that has been a hub of drug trafficking and criminal activity. 2835 Nichols Avenue was closed today by order of Judge Kyle Hixson under the state nuisance law.
Domestic Violence Defendant Convicted at Trial
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Domestic Violence Unit obtained convictions against a defendant who strangled his girlfriend and then said it was her fault. Jerrick Orlando Davis, 24, was convicted of Aggravated Assault, Vandalism, and Domestic Assault. Judge Kyle Hixson set the case for sentencing on September 9.
Gangster Disciple Convicted of Selling Drugs
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained convictions against a repeat drug dealer who is a member of the Gangster Disciples. Joshua Xavier Beasley, 29, was convicted of Sale of Heroin in a Drug Free School Zone and Possession with Intent to Sell Heroin and Fentanyl in a Drug Free School Zone. Judge Steve Sword took Beasley into custody and set the case for sentencing on August 26.
Vice Lord Convicted of First Degree Murder
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained convictions against a Vice Lord who shot and killed a young man after mistaking him for a rival gang member. Jeffery Milton Stokes, 34, was convicted of First Degree Murder and Reckless Endangerment. Judge Scott Green set the case for sentencing on August 13 where Stokes faces life in prison.
Domestic Violence and Drug Defendant Sentenced to Eleven Years in Prison
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Domestic Violence Unit and Felony Drug Unit obtained an eleven-year-sentence for a man who attacked his ex-girlfriend. Austin Kane Rudd, 25, pled guilty to two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Possession with Intent to Sell Methamphetamine over .5 Grams. Judge Steve Sword accepted the agreement and ordered Rudd to serve his sentence in the Tennessee Department of Correction.
Man Charged with Providing Handgun to Anthony Thompson, Jr.
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for the man that provided a handgun to Anthony Thompson, Jr. Kelvon Foster, 21, has been charged with Providing Handguns to Juveniles. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Brandon Elkins obtained the warrant this morning.
Drunk Driver Convicted after Falling Asleep at Stoplight
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s DUI Unit obtained convictions against a drunk driver who fell asleep at a stoplight. Luis Alexis Briceno, 25, was convicted of Driving Under the Influence Second Offense, Driving on Revoked License, and Failure to Provide Evidence of Financial Responsibility. Judge Steve Sword set the case for sentencing on June 24 where Briceno faces a minimum of forty-five days in jail.
Repeat Drunk Driver Convicted at Trial
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s DUI Unit obtained convictions against a drunk driver with four prior DUI convictions whose blood alcohol content was still over twice the legal limit three hours after driving. Tinisha Nicole Spencer, 45, was convicted of DUI Fourth or Subsequent. Judge Scott Green set the case for sentencing on July 23 where Spencer faces a minimum of one hundred and fifty days in jail.

Gang Member Convicted of Second Degree Murder
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Major Crimes Unit obtained a conviction against a Chattanooga man identified as a member of the criminal street gang, the Black Crime Family. Jamar Laquinn Frazier, 33, was convicted of Second Degree Murder. Judge Scott Green set the case for sentencing on June 24 where Frazier faces a sentence of fifteen to twenty-five years in prison without the possibility of parole.

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained a forty-eight-year sentence against a Crips gang member who shot a man during a robbery. Adam Dewayne Holmes, 35, was convicted of Second Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. Judge Steve Sword sentenced Holmes to forty years in prison without the possibility of parole consecutive to an eight-year sentence Holmes is already serving on a drug trafficking case.
