Woman Pleads Guilty to Second Degree Murder, Receives 20 Years
Prosecutors in Charme Allen’s Major Crimes Unit obtained a conviction today for Second Degree Murder against Catalina Davila, 36, in the shooting death of her ex-boyfriend, Joshua Fox. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Davila must serve twenty years in the Tennessee Department of Correction.
Concerned Motorist Leads to DUI Conviction
An intoxicated driver was convicted of DUI after a concerned citizen who observed a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road called 911. Prosecutors in Charme Allen’s DUI Unit convicted Lakisha M. Johnson, 27, of Driving Under the Influence First Offense.
Vice Lord Gang Member Convicted of Drug and Gun Charges
A member of the Vice Lord criminal street gang is facing a minimum of eighteen years in prison following multiple convictions obtained at trial today by prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit. Assistant District Attorney TaKisha Fitzgerald secured convictions against Ronald James Turner, 19, for Possession with Intent to Sell Cocaine in a Drug Free Zone, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Marijuana Grower Sentenced to Nineteen Years
A man convicted of growing 522 marijuana plants was sentenced today to serve nineteen years in prison. The sentence was imposed upon Travis Joe Braunm, 33, by Judge Scott Green after Felony Drug Unit prosecutor Sean McDermott argued that Braunm deserved an enhanced sentence based on the his prior criminal convictions including multiple felony convictions in multiple jurisdictions in Tennessee and North Carolina.
Multi-Convicted Felon Sentenced to Fifty-One Years
A convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history was sentenced to fifty-one years in prison after prosecutors with DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained convictions for a violent attack. In a September jury trial, Assistant District Attorney TaKisha Fitzgerald secured convictions against Terry Lewis Vonner, 48, for Attempted Second Degree Murder, Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Reckless Endangerment.
Murderer Found Guilty-as-Charged
Prosecutors in District Attorney General Charme P. Allen’s Major Crimes Unit obtained convictions today for multiple crimes committed by Quinton Emmanuel Love, 31. After a four-day trial, the jury agreed with Assistant District Attorney Kevin Allen and found Love guilty-as-charged of First Degree Felony Murder, Especially Aggravated Burglary, Attempted Especially Aggravated Robbery, Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.
Ghost Employee Convicted and Ordered to Pay County $200,000
A former ghost employee of the Knox County Trustee’s Office pled guilty-as-charged today and agreed to pay Knox County $200,000 in restitution for a scheme that defrauded taxpayers. Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s White Collar Unit convicted Ray Mike Mubarak, 56, of Theft over $60,000, a Class B Felony.
Gang Rivalry Ends in First Degree Murder Conviction
An altercation between rival gangs left one person dead and the other convicted of First Degree Murder. Prosecutor TaKisha Fitzgerald obtained convictions today against Jabriel Airece Linzy, 19, for First Degree Felony Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, and Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
Impaired Driver Convicted in Death of Passenger
Prosecutors with DA Charme Allen’s DUI Unit obtained a conviction today for a crash in which the passenger of the impaired driver lost his life. Joyce Darlene Scott, 50, pled guilty to Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and was sentenced to serve eighteen years in the Tennessee Department of Correction. Scott had two prior convictions for DUI at the time of the crash.
Robbery Plot Ends in Felony Murder Conviction
The District Attorney’s Office secured convictions today against Melvin Robert King, 24, the last of five co-defendants responsible for a robbery that turned into a homicide in June 2014. Following a five-day trial, King was convicted of First Degree Felony Murder, Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Attempted Especially Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Burglary, Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Reckless Aggravated Assault, and Aggravated Animal Cruelty.
Drug Dealer Convicted in Overdose Death
A man was convicted today for dealing prescription pain pills and for an overdose death caused by his drug dealing. Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained convictions for Sale of Schedule II Oxymorphone and Reckless Homicide committed by Michael Dewayne Carter, 51.
Attempted Murderer Sentenced to Sixty-Eight Years
Prosecutors in District Attorney General Charme P. Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained a sixty-eight year sentence for multiple crimes committed by Joshua Martez Williams, 21. In a sentencing order filed today, Judge Bob McGee agreed with prosecutor TaKisha Fitzgerald that Williams deserved an enhanced sentence.
Gang Members Convicted in Deadly Shooting
Prosecutors in Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained convictions against four Crip gang members following a deadly shooting in Western Heights. ADA Phil Morton announced a resolution in the cases against Couron E’Drice Bennett, 19, Marcus Eugene Stanford, 22, Deauntay Shamar Tate, 24, and Robert Dwight Wade, 23.
Multi-Convicted Felon Found Guilty of Growing 522 Marijuana Plants
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Felony Drug Unit secured convictions today against a multi-convicted felon for growing 522 marijuana plants. In a two-day trial, ADAs Sean McDermott and Hector Sanchez proved that Travis Joe Braunm, 33, manufactured marijuana at 1817 and 1823 Thompson Road in west Knox County.
Trio Sentenced in Kidnapping, Robbery of Elderly Woman
Three defendants were sentenced to serve over sixty years in prison after the Tennessee Supreme Court reinstated a jury verdict that was originally overturned by a local judge. At a three-day trial in October 2011, Assistant District Attorney Kevin Allen obtained jury verdicts for Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, and Aggravated Burglary against co-defendants Larry Jereller Alston, Kris Theotis Young, and Joshua Edward Webb.
District Attorney and Criminal Court Clerk Announce Creation of Expungement Court
Beginning September 14, citizens seeking expungement of criminal records will be able to obtain assistance at the Knox County Expungement Court, a joint effort between District Attorney General Charme P. Allen and Criminal Court Clerk Mike Hammond.
Repeat Offender Convicted in Violent Attack
A Knox County jury took less than an hour to reject a claim of self-defense and convict Ricky Ronald Thompson, 44, of Aggravated Assault following an altercation that left the victim with four metal plates in his face. Because the defendant has ten prior felony convictions, the State will ask that Thompson serve the maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
Man Convicted in Bar Fight Aggravated Assault
A Knox County man was convicted of Aggravated Assault after prosecutors with Charme Allen’s Criminal Division presented proof to a jury about an assault committed by Hythm Hijer, 37, at Ray’s ESG in March of 2013. Hijer now faces a separate sentencing hearing where Judge Scott Green will determine the appropriate sentence.
Gangster Disciple Sent to Prison for Thirty Years
Prosecutors in Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained convictions today against a gang member and repeat cocaine dealer. Eric Eugene Pollock, 29, pled guilty to two separate cases of Possession with Intent to Sell Cocaine in a Drug Free School Zone, admitted that he is a member of the Gangster Disciples criminal gang, and received a sentence to serve thirty years in prison.
Man Convicted of Producing Child Pornography Sentenced to Serve Nine Years
A man convicted of producing child pornography was sentenced to serve nine years in prison following a sentencing hearing held today. In April, child abuse prosecutors with District Attorney General Charme P. Allen’s office secured a conviction in a case where Robert Alexander Grisham, 47, produced child pornography by secretly recording a minor in a state of undress before and after showering.
