2022 Citizens Academy Application and Dates Announced

District Attorney Charme P. Allen is offering an eight-week, behind-the scenes experience for people who live and/or work in Knox County.

Held each year in the fall, the District Attorney General’s Citizens Academy provides an overview of the criminal justice system and addresses current trends impacting public safety in the 6th Judicial District. After covering the basics, participants learn what it is like to represent the State of Tennessee in the court of law, through a mock trial. With seasoned prosecutors playing along as witnesses, victims and defense attorneys, the mock trial can take several turns.

The application and additional information can be downloaded from the links listed below. The deadline to apply is Friday, July 22.  Participants must be at least 18 years of age, live or work in Knox County, and must undergo a criminal background check.

Citizens Academy Dates/Times:
Sept. 1, Sept. 8, Sept. 15, Sept. 22, Sept 29, Oct. 6, Oct. 13 & Oct 20; from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. each session.
