Gangster Disciple Convicted of Murder

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained multiple convictions against a gang member who murdered a man last year on Martin Luther King, Jr., Avenue. Odell Luther Glass, Jr., 35, was convicted of First Degree Felony Murder, Reckless Homicide, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. Judge Bob McGee sentenced Glass to life in prison with the possibility of parole after fifty-one years.

In a four-day trial, Assistant District Attorneys TaKisha Fitzgerald and Phil Morton explained to the jury that on January 3, 2017, around 3:30 PM, Glass approached a vehicle owned by the victim, Michael Nolan, while brandishing a handgun. Glass opened the door to Nolan’s car, entered the vehicle, and shot the Nolan once, severing his femoral artery. Tragically, Mr. Nolan was not the first victim his family lost to senseless gun violence. Mr. Nolan’s nephew was murdered in 2014 in a drive-by shooting committed by Jabriel Linzy. Mr. Nolan’s niece was murdered in 2010 in a drive-by shooting committed by Sam Glass. Mr. Nolan’s wife was murdered in 1994 in Clarksville, Tennessee, by Courtney Matthews. All defendants were convicted of First Degree Murder and are serving life sentences.

“Gun violence is real, and my office will aggressively prosecute offenders in order to keep this community safe,” said DA Charme Allen.
