Woman Posts about Breaking into Neighbor’s Home on Facebook

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Domestic Violence Unit obtained convictions against a woman who broke into her neighbor’s house then admitted to the crime on Facebook. Stephanie Dawn Hunt, 39, was convicted of Aggravated Burglary, Theft, and Vandalism. Judge Steve Sword set the case for sentencing on June 8.

At trial, Assistant District Attorneys Willie Lane and Randall Kilby explained to the jury that on May 28, 2016, Hunt used a baseball bat to break a sliding glass door and force entry into her neighbor’s home in Bearden. Once inside, Hunt stole a forty-two-inch television, $2,100 in U.S. currency, and other household items. Other neighbors called the victim who was on vacation at the time. Hunt later admitted to breaking the glass and stealing property on Facebook.

Aggravated Burglary is a Class C felony that carries a punishment from three to six years. Theft and Vandalism are both Class D felonies that carry a punishment between two and four years.
