Heroin Dealer Nets Sixteen-Years in Prison

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Felony Drug Unit obtained convictions against a heroin dealer who was twice caught with heroin packaged for resale in his possession. Ivan Andre Reed, 26, pled guilty to two cases of Possession with Intent to Sell Heroin. Under the terms of the agreement, Reed must serve sixteen years in prison.

In a plea hearing before Judge Scott Green, Assistant District Attorney Sean McDermott explained to the Court that on December 21, 2013, Knoxville Police Department Officers Thomas Turner, Richard White, and John Pickens were on foot patrol in the Arbor Place apartment complex off Townview Drive when they started talking to a group of individuals in the courtyard. Reed appeared nervous and consented to a search of his person, which revealed thirty-one individually packaged doses of heroin weighing approximately 4.1 grams. Reed was arrested but made bond for this offense when he was again arrested on September 2, 2014. On this occasion, KPD Ofc. Dan Roark stopped a vehicle for an expired registration. Upon further investigation, Reed was found to be in possession of nine individually wrapped bundles of heroin that were packaged for resale.
