Search Warrant Results in Heroin Conviction

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Felony Drug Unit obtained convictions today against a heroin and cocaine dealer from Detroit following the execution of a search warrant at a residence in North Knoxville. Markeisha Denise Ellis, 28, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Sell Heroin and Possession with Intent to Sell Cocaine. Under the terms of the agreement, Ellis must serve twelve years in prison.

In a plea hearing before Judge Steve Sword, Assistant District Attorney Ken Irvine explained to the Court that on October 6, 2015, Investigators Brad Yearout, Heather Gardner, and other investigators with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 410 Melton Court based upon undercover controlled purchases of heroin from Ellis inside the residence. During the search of the residence, officers found heroin packaged for resale in lottery playslips, 5.6 grams of cocaine, various pills, marijuana, digital scales, and a stolen Smith and Wesson handgun.
