Detroit Heroin and Pill Dealer Sentenced to Twelve Years without Parole

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Felony Drug Unit obtained a twelve-year sentence against a man from Detroit who was selling heroin and pills in Knoxville. In a September trial, Frazier Lee Savage, 43, was convicted of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin and Alprazolam in a Drug Free Zone and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Because the offense took place in a Drug Free Zone, the twelve-year sentence must be served without the possibility of parole.

At trial, Assistant District Attorneys Hector Sanchez and Miriam Johnson explained to the jury that on March 5, 2015, officers with the Knoxville Police Department Repeat Offender Squad located Savage at the Super 8 Motel on Merchants Drive. Savage had an outstanding arrest warrant from Michigan for Assault with Intent to Murder. When officers served the warrant, they discovered eleven grams of heroin and twenty-six alprazolam pills along with digital scales and other paraphernalia for the distribution of heroin.

“Because we have such a large number of opiate addicts in East Tennessee, there is a large demand for heroin and prescription pills,” said DA Allen. “Until we turn the corner on this epidemic, we will continue to see dealers come from out-of-state to prey upon the addiction of citizens in our community.”
