Prolific Property Offender Sent to Prison
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained twelve convictions against a property offender with fifty-seven prior felony convictions. David Lee Dalton, 52, was convicted of six counts of Aggravated Burglary, one count of Attempted Aggravated Burglary, one count of Burglary, and four counts of Forgery. Under the terms of the agreement, Dalton was sentenced to twenty years in prison that must run consecutive to a twelve-year sentence out of Washington County.
In a plea hearing before Judge Bob McGee, Assistant District Attorney TaKisha Fitzgerald explained to the Court that from February to July 2016, Dalton broke into six residences and a detached garage where he stole electronics, tools, and other items that he pawned at stores around Knox County. During the course of these home invasions, Dalton also stole checks and then passed forged checks at various local banks.
“”When you have fifty-seven felony convictions and you commit twelve more felonies, you have dedicated your life to crime and you do not deserve to walk among our free society,”” said DA Charme Allen.””The length of this sentence ensures he will not victimize the citizens of Knox County for a long time to come.””
Dalton’s fifty-seven prior felony convictions stem from Forgery and Theft offenses in Washington, Williamson, Greene, Sullivan, and Hawkins Counties.
