Career Criminal Nets Ten More Convictions
Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Career Gang Unit obtained seven felony and three misdemeanor convictions against a career offender who already had nine prior felonies. Glenn Lavester Golden, 49, was convicted of five counts of Aggravated Robbery, one count of Attempted Aggravated Robbery, one count of Burglary, and three counts of misdemeanor Theft. As part of the plea agreement in this case, Golden must serve the next twelve years in prison.
In two plea hearings before Judge Scott Green, Assistant District Attorney Phil Morton explained to the court that on various dates from November 2014 to January 2015, Golden entered a Weigel’s, Corner Market, CVS Pharmacy, Mr. Zip, and two Walgreens Pharmacies and demanded money from the cash register. Each time, Golden was armed with a handgun and wearing a ski mask. On other occasions, Golden entered multiple Pilot stores and stole hundreds of dollars of merchandise. KPD investigators were able to use surveillance video and statements from witnesses to identify Golden.
“”Thanks to the hard work of the Knoxville Police Department and prosecutors in my office this criminal’s crime spree was put to an end,”” said DA Charme Allen.””The resolution in this case made sure Golden will not commit another crime in Knox County for over a decade.””
In addition to these most recent convictions, Golden has nine prior felony convictions out of Knox County for Robberies and Thefts.
