Driver Convicted of DUI with Children in Vehicle

Tylyn R. Pass, 37, was convicted of DUI today after Assistant District Attorney General Joe Welker presented evidence of her drunk driving to a Knox County jury. Pass was stopped on December 6, 2012, for driving her vehicle at night without headlights. The Defendant was given field sobriety tests and failed. Pass had three children in the vehicle with her.

District Attorney General Charme Allen applauded the work of ADA Welker stating,”The main goal of DUI enforcement and prosecution is to ensure public safety on our roads. When a driver chooses to drive while intoxicated with multiple children in the car, they need to be dealt with harshly. That was accomplished today.”

Because Pass was convicted of DUI with children in the vehicle, she must serve a minimum of thirty days in the Knox County Jail. In addition to mandatory jail time, Pass will lose her license for one year, must complete an Alcohol and Drug Assessment, and must complete at least twenty-four hours litter pickup.
