DAG Charme Allen is sworn in to office for a second term

Thank you, Knox County, for electing me to serve as your District Attorney General for a second term.  I am humbled by the honor and privilege it is to serve you. On September 1, I took an oath to uphold the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Tennessee. I lived up to this oath during my last term and will do the same for the next eight years.

My top priority always has been and always will be public safety. I have answered the prosecutor’s call to pursue the guilty and protect the innocent for more than 30 years. I have used my experience as a front-line prosecutor and passion for our community to dictate how justice is administered in Knox County.

It is important to me as your District Attorney General that we remain tough on crime and smart on prevention.  I believe serious, violent offenders who prey on our community’s most vulnerable populations should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Prevention is also an important tool to ensure public safety. If we can prevent crime from happening in the first place, then we have fewer victims of crime, which, ultimately, is the goal.

It is also important to me that crime victims are not forgotten in the process. Meeting the needs of crime victims is important to me personally and professionally. Every victim who comes into my office can expect to be treated with dignity and compassion. My prosecutors and victim witness coordinators are committed to assisting crime victims through the entire process.

Thank you, again, for the privilege of serving as your District Attorney General. I know, together, we can live in a community that is safe for all persons. Thank you for your support as the Knox County District Attorney General’s Office strives to pursue the guilty and protect the innocent, always.
